Recent Changes to SBA --------------------- Following are changes to SBA since 30 June 2008. Most recent changes are first. The current version is 4.6042 (or greater) Investments (Aug 09) -------------------- Investment transactions can now be linked to a creditor account for your broker instead of only to a bank account. On-screen Lists (Aug 09) --------------- Some times the data listed in the pop-up box at the top left of SBA's window has been too wide to be fully readable. This box now automatically adjusts its width depending on the contents. The font is also now bold. Hi-resolution displays (Aug 09) ---------------------- The resolution of modern monitors is a lot better than older ones. This means that a lot of SBA's windows are now popping up as little boxes in the middle of the screen. We're increasing the font size of a lot of the information in these windows so it will be easier to read on hi-res displays. We're also making more of the windows adjust automatically depending on the screen settings. So if you have your resolution set at 1920 x 1200 in widescreen hi-res, SBA's information will be as easy to read as on a 640 x 480 screen setting. This will happen progressively. So each time you receive an SBA update, you might notice a few screen appearing differently. Website Links in Help (Aug 09) --------------------- We've started to add some website links to the 'Help' Menu in SBA. At present there's a link to the ATO and the Aust Business Register. There's also a link to 'Online Broker'. The first time you use this one, it will be a link to ComSec, but you can enter the address of your broker to become the default broker address. Link to Broker in Investments (Aug 09) ----------------------------- Set your stockbroker up as a creditor in SBA, and you can now link sharetrading transactions direct to the broker account. The 'Buy' ans 'Sell' screens now allow you to specify the broker instead of a bank account. You can then process bank deposits or direct debits to the broker account. This means that your bank account will no longer show each all individual trades, but will only show the actual transaction that appear on your bank statement. More Print Options (Jun 09) ------------------ We've added more flexibility to SBA's multiple printers capability. Some time ago we introduced the option to specify a printer for 'External' documents. This printer would then be used for documents being sent out of your business, and could be a software package such as a PDF file writer. This could be appropriate for some documents but not all. We've now added a switch so the 'External Document Printer' can be set to 'Auto' or 'Ask'. If you choose to turn the 'Auto' switch off, SBA will pop up a window with the two printers (Windows Default and 'External Document'), so you can select the one you want to use for a particular situation. Go to 'Maintenance > Configuration > Stationery' to speciy the printer and to set the 'Auto' switch on or off. 09-10 Tax Scales (Jun 09) ---------------- PAYG Tax scales for the new financial year are included with the latest SBA. After you process your last Payroll for the current financial year, go to 'Payroll > Configuration > Tax Scales' and click the 'Read File' button. Go to a Specific Report Page (Feb 09) ---------------------------- The Report screen has had buttons for 'First','Prev','Next', and 'Last' page. There is now a box where you can nominate a specific page and go to it directly. Duplicate Journal Entries (Feb 09) ------------------------- Multi-User SBA will occassionally produce two journal entries with the same number. When the 'Health Check' reports duplicate entries, it also give you the option to re-number the journal entries. PAYG Tax Scales for 2009 -------------- Now available in new version with effect from 1 July Deferred Journal Entries (Feb 09) ---------------- Now available... Regular Billing (Dec 08) -------------- Regular Billing can now be set to expire after a specified number of invoices. There is a new box labeled 'Expire After' on the regular billing window. This should initially display 'N/A' when you install the new version. Click on the box to enter a value. We also have an optional summary report at the end of a regular billing run. This will display and can be printed if required Investments (Nov 08) ----------- If you use Comsec's Protrader as your sharetrading platform and link your SBA to Comsec watchlists to update share prices, we have important news. There are problems interfacing with IRess, the new ComSec trading platform. There is a separate news letter which you can access by clicking another link on your latest SBA News. Adding Inventory (Oct 08) ---------------- When adding stock items to your inventory, there's a good chance that they'll be in the same stock category. When you are adding the second and subsequent items during a session, SBA defaults to the category of the previous item. Faster Reports (Oct 08) -------------- Some reports, particularly a creditor history with a lot of transactions, have been taking a long time to display. The report generating orutine has been accelerated considerably. This was an interesting problem bacuase we found no problem with an old PC, but a significant delays with a brand new 'faster' quad processor PC. WideScreen Monitors (Aug 08) ------------------- If you are using a Widescreen monitor, you may have noticed that the vertical scroll bar on SBA's report window is very narrow. This is now fixed and the full scrollbar is visible. Repeating Operations (Aug 08) -------------------- We're modifying a number of routines in SBA so that you can repeat an operation without going through the menu structure again. If you find a spot where you would like this flexibility added, let us know. Customer ID Display (Aug 08) ------------------- We've increased the size of some boxes displaying customer IDs. They were only only displaying 3 or 4 digits. Payroll - New Tax Scales (Jun 08) ------------------------ The tax scales to take effect form 1/7/08 are included with the latest SBA. To use the new scales, wait until you have processed your last payroll for the year to 30 Jun. Then go into the Payroll module, select Configuration, Tax Scale then click on the "Read File' button.
