| "Working for the Australian Taxation Office for so many years provided the ideal platform from which to write an 'Aussie Accounting Package', and so SBA (the Small Business Accountant) was born. This was a long time ago now, but hundreds (probably thousands) of updates later (including porting it to 32-bit windows and, also to cater for the GST in 2000), and SBA is still going strong. We have many satisfied customers and devotees of SBA, and why shouldn't they be. Ken Smith - kenrhea Consulting "I have been a small business consultant and software trainer since 1992, qualifying as an SBA Trainer in 1994. I have personally trained hundreds of people to use SBA, in both classroom and one-on-one environments. They generally find it intuitive, and easy to use. They regularly compare it favorably to other more well known (and more expensive) accounting packages, and are impressed at it's functionality for price. I think it represents great value for money, and is ideally suited to most Australian industries.
I first became involved with Formula One Software in 1994. I was the Business Manager in a small project team assigned to evaluate and implement an accounting system in a large Australian government department. We evaluated several well-known, and some not so well-known accounting systems, and ultimately chose SBA. SBA-2000 (or SBA as it was called at that time) was far superior in terms of its functional fit. I was very impressed with SBA's features and ease of use. Today, in its modern Windows format, it still contains exceptional functionality for price and is excellent value for money.
I like the fact that small and start-up businesses need only invest a small amount of money to get started. Typically, they start with BAS-2000 and upgrade to SBA-2000 Lite or SBA-2000 later on. This logical upgrade path, strangely enough, is not always available from other more well known systems. In some instances, an upgrade (within the same brand of software) requires a whole new database. While sometimes this is good (sometimes it is necessary), unfortunately you lose your history and there is additional time and cost re-keying data and validating your entries. The upgrade paths from BAS-2000 to SBA-2000 Lite and/or SBA-2000 are seamless. Apart from the additional features you get when you upgrade, you hardly know you have changed system.
I have supported a number of systems over the last decade or so, and have had dealings with many software developers' support and development staff. Formula One Software is easily one of the best company's I have dealt with. The company is only small so it's responsive - there is no being pushed from department to department. Bob Wilson and his small team of consultants are specialists - I have always received excellent support from Formula One Software.
